Why We Love Wymbin | Youth Yoga Studio, Calgary, AB
We love Wymbin.
Wymbin, is a youth yoga studio that focuses on providing families with wellness education, movement-based classes, and an inclusive community environment in Inglewood, Calgary, Alberta.
We have been attending Wymbin for a year. Initially, I had been searching for an activity that Xaria could participate in solo that combined movement with an engaging environment. Wymbin’s Yoga Sprouts class was the perfect fit. I’m proud that Xaria is in a space where she can learn mindfulness techniques through art, movement, and stories. I’ve witnessed her develop the tools and vocabulary to check-in with herself in stressful or anxious situations. Her first solo swimming lesson, she took 3 big deep breaths in unison with me before joining her class and she now describes the emotions she’s feeling in her heartbrain. I believe that the earlier we introduce our children to self-care emotionally, mentally, and physically, the earlier they’ll have the tools to connect to their intuition and shine. Wymbin is planting seeds of mindfulness, self care, and connection through their work in the community. I’m looking forward to continuing to watch their seeds bloom within Xaria and each life they touch.
Wymbin also offers pre-school programs, summer camps, workshops, birthday parties, parent-child yoga, school programming and more. Follow Wymbin on Instagram to keep up to date with their offerings.
why we love Wymbin
The teachers at Wymbin are one of a kind. The staff at Wymbin are kind, patient, and welcoming. They gently encourage participation and adjust to meet your child’s needs and energy that each day. Through creative activities and movement they inspire curiousity and self-discovery.
Their un-parented classes start at 2 years old. Typically, the magic number is 3-years-old for un-parented classes, this is a major plus.
The Saturday Mini Movers and Sunday Yoga Sprout classes are drop-in friendly. Because, life. No big commitment or investment. Make it work for your schedule.
Yoga Sprouts is 2hrs or 3hrs. Finally, enough time for you to indulge in some uninterrupted quiet time or to do something productive kid-free. There’s enough time to enjoy a yoga class upstairs at Junction 9, explore Inglewood, or chill out at Rosso Coffee. I typically schedule my family documentary slow sunday sessions during this time!
The community work they invest in. Everything about Wymbin is community focused, from the small businesses they support through their store front, to the adapted-needs classes offered, and the workshops, camps, and gatherings they host. I’ve experienced it first-hand when they offered to bring my U15 girls basketball team in for a class! Wymbin supports The Beam Foundation, a non-profit foundation that provides accessible, affordable yoga & wellness programs for youth. The Wymbin brand is authentically built with community in mind and you can feel it weaved within the energy of their space and light within their people.
