Fall In Love With Facial Oil
I’ve fallen in love with facial oil
With the cold and dry temperatures approaching, I’ve started preparing my skin for the season’s changes. I’ve upped my skincare routine and added Neal’s Yard Remedies Rejuvenating Frankincense Facial Oil. Game changer. After cleansing and applying toner I massage a couple drops of my Frankincense facial oil into my skin and lock it in with a moisturizer. I was nervous about adding a facial oil to my skincare routine. I thought it would leave my skin feeling greasy and lead to breakouts. False. I love the way it nourishes my skin and leaves it feeling dewy and radiant, it’s the perfect add for some extra hydration in preparation for winter.
what are facial oils?
Facial oils are a combination of plant oils that are rich in vitamins and antioxidants. They provide your skin with nourishment and moisture, and leave your skin feeling radiant as they help seal hydration for longer.
Are they the same as moisturizer?
Neal’s Yard Remedies recently shared the best explanation: No, although facial oils, moisturizer and serums all work to keep your skin hydrated and provide different benefits, resulting in overall hydration and radiance. We can find it helpful to think of serum, facial oil, and moisturizer like garments of clothing, each layer serving its own unique purposes — your serum is the bra (support), your facial oil as the silky camisole (nourishment), and your moisturizer as your jacket (protection).

Food for thought
As I’ve recently become invested in my skincare routine, it’s not just about putting products on your skin. On this journey, there are still days where all I want to do is apply an extra layer of foundation. It’s important to recognize what our skin is communicating to us, what does it need and want, what triggers it, and what causes it to break out or glow? We need to consider the full eco-system. Are we stressed? Are we nourishing our bodies with quality food? Are we hydrating appropriately? Are our hormones unbalanced? Is it that time of the month? Be gentle on yourself on this journey.
Skincare requires patience.
