"If You Get Tired, Learn To Rest, Not To Quit"
As mother nature gently embraces the once bare trees and the ground begins to thaw, we await the buds to blossom and an energy of rebirth awakens us. Our bodies and minds, once resting in a gentle winter slumber now rise. Spring gifts renewal, growth, and resilience.
This week, I welcomed this energy into my life. A catalyst for change. I needed to be woken from the perpetual cycle of busy. The cycle of checking the boxes from your infinite to-do list. The routine of moving from next, to next, to next, and never getting a moment to process or rest. It was time for me to press pause and check-in with myself. When was the last time you took time for yourself busy mama?
As women, mothers, sisters, daughters, friends, it is natural to fall into the rhythm of giving, nurturing, and caretaking. A constant hum through life as we give pieces of ourselves to spouses, family, children, friends, and commitments. Silently, we can be left depleted mentally, physically and spiritually.
“Our greatest strength lies in the gentleness and tenderness of our heart.”
— Rumi
We, women, are magical creatures and we must protect our magic and hold our well-being sacred. Rest and self-care are important. We cannot care for our people from an empty vessel.
This week, I put myself first and nourished my soul. I found solitude on my mat, in the early mornings before my family woke, and in the shower after a long day. I laughed, I cried, and I loved.
“If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit.”
— Banksy
Pencil yourself in. Say 'no' so you can say 'yes' to things that matter. You, matter. Your happiness matters. Your self-care matters.
Set daily intentions. Take 5 mins before you start your day to affirm your intentions. In the shower, in your journal, on the mat, wherever you find your peace. One small positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.
Protect your magic. If someone or something no longer serves you, let it go. Roll it off your shoulders and let it go. Say yes to love and honour yourself.
